Attention Mississippians!
NCAT and its Mississippi Food Justice Collaborative partners are excited to announce the launch of the first-ever Mississippi Food Systems Fellowship!
In order for all Mississippians to have access to healthy local food, we believe that the food system needs transformational change. The Mississippi Food Systems Fellowship will invest in Mississippians working to build a more healthy, sustainable, and equitable food system. Through nurturing a cohort of food systems leaders, we are determined to build community power that informs and supports food system transformation.
We are seeking a cohort of young to mid-career leaders from Native, Black, Latinx, Asian, and other minority communities (ages 18-49) working at the intersections of a variety of sectors, including Food, Health, Agriculture, Labor, Economic Democracy, Environment and Community-Centered Development and Production. First preference will be given to native Mississippians and those who have been committed to Mississippi for at least 7 years. Fellows must be committed to living and working in one of the following regions of Mississippi:
- Mississippi Gulf Coast
- Jackson, Mississippi
- Mississippi Delta
- Mississippi Choctaw Reservation
These regions were selected based on where our existing relationships, and where community partners have expressed a desire for more strategic collaboration and capacity-building support to build upon existing food systems work.
The fellowship is a one-year commitment, from January through December 2020.
Applications are due October 20, 2019. For more information, or to apply today, go to https://msfoodjustice.ncat.org/fellowship. If you have questions, please contact NCAT’s Food Justice Project Coordinator Liz Broussard at msfellows@ncat.org or 479-575-1390.
